Before and After

So often we rescue cats in need of some love, veterinary treatment and patience. Here at Paws Inn we have had the pleasure of helping some of these wonderful creatures return to health and find their forever homes. Here are only some of the cats who have chosen to share their story with you.

Anastasia
This charming girl has a heartbreaking story though she stole all of our hearts.

Anastasia, about 7 years old had been living rough on the streets for many months. She came to the Inn with a very cancerous ear which was immediately amputated. The cancer attacked her second ear and in June Anastasia has this ear amputated. It was a timely reminder as the summer arrived that sunscreen should be applied to to those cats with white ears or noses to prevent sun damage.

Before

All she wants is a lap for herself as you can see in these photos, though she is very happy to share it. Whilst she recovers Anastasia will remain in our care.

Mia
Mia was rescued with a belly full of worms and in a sorry state indeed. She was skin and bone apart from that swollen belly and had many itchy friends visiting. With some care, love and attention, Mia was spayed, vaccinated and treated for all her ails. A lovely little girl who found her forever home with an equally lovely family.

Cats from the Cupboard
Yes. The title says it all, doesn't it? In July 2007 we were called to the home of an elderly lady who was in desparate need of our help. There we found inside a kitchen under-stair cupboard with a concrete floor, pitch black inside, a family of five kittens from two litters, two adult females, and an entire tom. The stench was unbelievable.

Clearly these poor cats had been living in this cupboard, eating and toiletting in there too. Another pregnant female was brought to us from the upstairs of the house. We took one of the females and the tom to the vets for neutering, and after helping the lady clear out her utility room and make a nice warm room, we returned these two to her with food and dry, clean supplies and we visit regularly to ensure that the lady is able to maintain the level of care necessary.

Amelia, the little pregnant girl from upstairs, we placed in one of our pens and gave her much love and attention. Such a sweet natured girl and just wanting to have a cuddle. Alice, the other mum from the cupboard, we placed with the 5 kittens in our outside chalet. For the most part mum and kittens all spent most of their time in the outside run of the chalet, clearly traumatised from being cooped up in a cupboard.

To say that toilet training was a challenge with this family, is an understatement. However, we perservered, and after what felt like weeks of the same, litter tray progress abounded and we had a wonderful little family ready to be rehomed.

Amelia gave birth to gorgeous kittens, and Alice and kittens have all been rehomed. Naughty little tikes they were too.
